Melbourne Tram Museum news

Coronavirus

The Melbourne Tram Museum will open according to its published open day schedule, unless there is a declaration by Government of broad social distancing measures under the National Pandemic Plan, or if it is identified that a high-risk individual has visited the museum. The Museum Committee of Management is actively monitoring the Coronavirus situation, and should it be required to close, will publicise the decision on the museum website and its social media accounts as quickly as possible.

Please do not visit the Melbourne Tram Museum if you have symptoms of respiratory illness, been diagnosed as having been infected with Coronavirus (COVID-19), have recently arrived in Australia from high-risk areas, or have been in contact with a high-risk individual.

For the latest information on coronavirus precautions, symptoms and status, consult the following websites:

Museum Visitors

If, subsequent to a visit to the Melbourne Tram Museum, a museum visitor discovers they have:

  • come into contact with a high-risk individual within fourteen (14) days prior to their museum visit
  • are suffering flu-like symptoms within fourteen (14) days of their museum visit
  • been diagnosed as being infected by coronavirus (COVID-19) within fourteen (14) days of their museum visit

we ask that they notify us as soon as practicable.

If you are unable to visit the Melbourne Tram Museum at this time, we recommend that you browse the following areas of our website to discover more about:

Museum Volunteers

Museum volunteers must:

  • take reasonable care for their own health and safety
  • take reasonable care for the health and safety of persons who may be affected by the volunteer’s acts or omissions at the museum
  • co-operate with the museum with respect to any action taken by the museum to comply with a requirement imposed by or under the OHS Act

We ask all museum volunteers to be vigilant and to change their habits where necessary to minimise risk to themselves and to others. Museum volunteers must notify us immediately, if:

  • they have travelled to a high-risk affected area since the beginning of 2020
  • they have come into contact with a high-risk individual within the last fourteen (14) days, whether or not the museum volunteer has developed symptoms
  • they are suffering, or have suffered, flu-like symptoms since the virus was first detected
  • they have been diagnosed as being infected by Coronavirus (COVID-19).

If a museum volunteer falls into any of the above four categories, they must not attend the Melbourne Tram Museum in any capacity, until they can demonstrate that they have been free of symptoms for a period of not less than fourteen (14) days since they fell into any of the above categories, or they can produce a medical certificate stating that they are free of coronavirus (COVID-19). The latter is a mandatory requirement if they have been diagnosed as being infected by Coronavirus (COVID-19).
